Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has become the fastest player in Premier League to register 50 assists, smashing the record previously held by Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.
The Belgium international missed a large chunk of City ‘s season through injury last year but has quickly made up for the lost time in the new campaign.
De Bruyne looks back to his brilliant best and was the best player on the pitch during the 2-2 draw against Tottenham, where he notched both assists for City’s goals.
His performance meant the Premier League record was in his sights when City traveled to Bournemouth and it took just 15 minutes for De Bruyne to turn provider.
The Belgian’s scuffed shot fortuitously found its way to Sergio Aguero and the Argentine made no mistake from inside the penalty area.
In doing so, De Bruyne took just 123 games to reach 50 assists in the Premier League – 18 games fewer than Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil, who reached the milestone after 141 games for the Gunners.
Rounding off the top five is Manchester United legend Eric Cantona (143 games), Arsenal icon Dennis Bergkamp (146 games) and former Chelsea and Arsenal maestro Cesc Fabregas (165 games).
